We emphasise the importance of psychotherapy rather than medication.

The clinic provides psychological tests, making a medical diagnosis and prescribed medication. Psychotherapies are mainly offered at he Day Care Centre, which is run by Uni Care Sakano, Ltd.

Every patient needs to make an appointment to see a doctor.

The doctor offers you 50 minutes for your first appointment, and 30 minutes for the following visits.

Medication

In Japan, health insurance does not formally cover most psychiatric medication for children under 18 years. However, prescriptions are still routinely provided in most child psychiatric clinics without robust evidence. In this circumstance, we take UK NICE Guidelines into account for our treatment in order to offer the evidence-based treatment as possible. As a result, our prescriptions are very limited compared to other psychiatric clinics. If you are referred to us from other clinics, please appreciate that some of your prescriptions may not be provided at our clinic.

Also, we do not offer blood tests or electrocardiogram, which you will need in order to take medication. If you are prescribed medication at our clinic, you will need to undertake those tests at your nearest general clinic, at least once a year.

<Medication we do NOT usually prescribe>

- Benzodiazepines

- Antipsychotics except for risperidone, quetiapine, aripiprazole, and olanzapine

- Antidepressants except for citalopram and sertraline

- Lithium, Carbamazepine

Psychotherapy

We offer Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), Eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing (EMDR), Mentalisation based treatment for adolescents (MBT-A), Social skills training, Parenting programs, etc. They are provided at the Day Care Centre.
